“That’s right I am a professional! A young business professional!” I interned in Columbus for a summer and could not believe how many people wore Apple watches and Air Pods. If the person was in any type of business attire they were sporting an apple watch air pod combo. It was hysterical in my eyes as I do not understand the need for an overpriced, gaudy watch. My perfectly good thousand dollar pocket watch that is my iPhone will do just fine. The thing is attached to us at all times so why do I need to shave off the time it takes me to reach into my pocket by a couple seconds to lifting my wrist to my face to see who texts me. If anything I don’t even want to be notified that someone texted me. Other than health tracking, which is unneeded, what is the appeal of the apple watch? If you want tracking, grab a reasonably priced Fitbit. What are you even tracking? Are you training for the Olympics? Watches in general just don’t make sense to me anymore with the advent of the smart phone. They are more of a sign of status if anything and Apple is the generic base line. Im not an accessory guy so Im not sporting one ever. The tech is going to be outdated anyway like your phone will so just add another payment along with your phone! Makes sense. Upgrades upgrades upgrades. Now you got to shell out a minimum of $300 every couple of years. Along with upgraded charges and wrist bands. Apple really is smart in making the same thing, repackaging it, and selling it to the same customer (IPAD).
When it comes to the Air Pods, I guess it makes more sense but im more of a classic man when it comes to head phones. It’s a vintage look you know, and more practical. Function over form guy here. Good luck to you in the snow when you drop a pod! Say goodbye to your phone when you drop it! My wired headphones have saved me countless times from a cracked screen. They are a life line that balances a smashed phone and crisp one. I’ve bought some Sound Lab wireless headphones and the only time I liked it was when I was lifting and my phones could be places out of my pocket on the ground. Is it worth it? No tangles wires is great but do one YouTube search on how to string up your headphones and that will eliminate the friction. Now you must carry along a charging dock with you. I’m a man of the wire I suppose fighting modern advancements in technology.
Apples ecosystem is truly impressive and their branding and price point allows anyone to be able to sport their products. Once you are trapped in that ecosystem you become apart of it and it is hard to escape. I switched to PC and I am now weighing the decision of buying an android phone. With my work being so intertwined with texting it is going to be had to cut the umbilical cord from Apples IMessage entrapment. Maybe I don’t get some texts and get left out GMs, maybe I don’t. Even for people like me who want to switch its very hard. No wonder the stock has performed the way it has.
